Firstly, I've learned the importance of using two cameras as this makes it so much easier in regards to continuity- instead of stopping, moving to a new angle and having the person say the line again, you can just position two of your group in two different places- so you get exactly the same shot at exactly the moment.
Something else camera related was that was very important was that we learnt the importance of different camera angles, if you look at our preliminary project, you'll see that it was all shot almost completely with a mid-shot, and now we have incorporated a variety of shots.
Also, having a script and a basic idea is very important- our preliminary was so short because we didn't really have any idea what we were doing, with a lot of time dedicated to planning when it came to the real thing- we managed to fashion a good narrative together by making sure scripts were being written as soon as possible and composing a storyboard once we settled on the scripts we wanted.

As you can tell from watching our piece, and from the list below- close ups have tended to dominate our film. From our research, we realised the important of these close intimate shots because they invite the audience in and draws them closer into the plot, keeping them intrigued and wondering what is happening next, we have even incorperated the rare use of extreme close ups to exxagerate this quality of our film. ECU have been used quite alot to underline the masculine and feminine qualities of the femme fatale and the protaganist- zooming in on her long nails and high heels, and his angry eyes before he goes in for the kill.
Long angle shots have been used to suggest power when needed, and we have used them for both Ky and James characters to show the clash of two powers, and leave the audience confused about their statuses in regards to who is the most important. Though we need to present the audience with a situation, if we give too much away it ruins the effect of the whole picture!
We've incorperated title shots into the film opening to give the impression of the silent movie era with placards- a homage to the old-fashioned roots of black and white films, placards also say something quite 'Brechtian' to me, a German dramatist who emphasised morality, ethics and social change in his plays, like Film Noir does on the big screen.
We filmed on an industrial estate and warehouse-style part of our school, and have therefore used long shots to show our characters in this quite Urban setting, because we don't live in a metropolis like New York or Chicago, we had to work with what was around us.
I think our editing and camera work really captured the essence of film noir, and as I have explained in my vLogs- I really look forward to taking on post-production role next year!

The making of our Film Noir opening is finally drawing to a close, as I type this the music is just being finished off and we've got a few hours just to tidy up the sound and make sure that the transitions are as smooth possible. Though we agreed that Sin City would be a huge influence on our piece, our music has taken a completely new direction and I can't wait to see the full piece properly. Instead of rock music with used classical-experimental music (a mix of bass, strings and shakers!) a trademark of later work by Debussy, as this seems to 'fit' more with our video.
